French directing team Fleur & Manu helm this mind-bending video for producer and recent Kanye West collaborator Gesaffelstein, which features the duo’s typically futuristic, surreal imagery as well as an intriguing visual narrative about the pursuit of power.
In this darkly comic video for Joe Goddard‘s ”She Burns”, we witness an embalming ceremony with two odd morticians applying cosmetics and injecting fluids into a twitching, singing corpse played by guest singer Mara Carlyle. French duo Sophie Diess and Jean-Christophe Saurel (aka Soandsau) direct.
Certainly one of the best uses of the GIF format I’ve seen in a music video, this brilliantly executed clip for Adrian Sieber’s “Round Round Song” from director Danila Kostil tells a couple’s love story using CANADA-style whimsical imagery on infinite loop.
Disclosure has had a solid run of great music videos and “When A Fire Starts To Burn” continues that streak with this bizarre clip from director Bo Mirosseni featuring a zealous preacher of some freaky dancing / snake handling cult.
French directing collective Pleix direct this blissful, sun-drenched video for electro duo Discodeine, which features a a flashy pink color scheme and some very impressive motion capture animation.
Whatever you think of Two Door Cinema Club as a band (they’re a somewhat guilty pleasure for me), you have to admit they make some very creative videos and the latest is this devious bowling-themed clip from Sam Pilling that recalls a certain famous Sopranos episode and then goes to some very odd places.
This gorgeous video from director Colin Kennedy follows professional skateboarder Danny Garcia as he navigates Los Angeles. It was entirely shot at the final moments of daylight (or “magic hour” as it’s known in the film world) over the course of 42 days, which I guess makes this the “Days of Heaven” of skateboarding videos.
This amazing video from director Ohji Inou takes you on a Kubrickian journey through outer space by way of vintage romance novel covers. That may sound like a completely ridiculous concept (and it is) but what’s crazier is how well it actually works. The visuals are executed flawlessly and it all builds up to a fantastic climax where a cacophony of romance novel imagery is sucked into some type of vortex. It’s as awesome as it is baffling.
